Corn/Maize Gluten Meal

Corn gluten meal is a by-product of the wet milling process used in the manufacture of maize starch and its derivatives. This protein-rich feed contains approximately 60-75% crude protein (dry matter basis) and serves as a valuable source of protein, energy, and pigments for various livestock species, including fish. Additionally, it is highly regarded in pet food formulations for its excellent protein digestibility.

Typically, corn gluten meal can be fed either wet or dried, although the dried form is more commonly used. It also contains about 15-20% residual starch, limited fiber (1% crude fiber), and minimal fat (3%) and minerals (2%).

With a high gross energy content of 23.1 MJ/kg (dry matter) and energy digestibility exceeding 90% in ruminants and pigs, corn gluten meal is an effective alternative to other plant and animal-based protein sources. Its versatility extends beyond animal feed; it is also employed as
a fertilizer and pre-emergent weed killer.
